Metropolitan Opera star Tibbett is cast in this ditty-filled tale centered around the then-popular tune "The Peanut Vendor." Tibbett joins the Marines and leaves his deb girl behind in the States. He and pal Durante are sent to Cuba where they meet the vivacious Velez, a peanut vendor. The

hungry Tibbett has a time with the senorita, but returns to his gal when the war ends. Time goes by and Tibbett's mind wanders towards Velez. By chance, he meets up with the Schnozzola and the duo take off in search of the vendor. They soon learn that she died, leaving a small remembrance

behind--a son. Being a good father and lousy husband he returns to the States with the babe in his arms. Obediently his deb wife accepts the little one into her home. Tibbett is good, but better off at the Met, though he is well supported by Velez and Durante in one of the best films of this

genre. Songs: "The Cuban Love Song," "The Peanut Vendor" (Marion Sunshine, I. Wolfe Gilbert, Moises Simons), "The Marine Hymn," "Tramps at Sea," "You're in the Army Now" (Dorothy Fields, Jimmy McHugh),"Nobody's Sweetheart" (Gus Kahn, Ernie Erdman, Billy Meyers, Elmer Schoebel).
