Rising ad agency star Matt Taylor (Anthony John Denison) is too busy climbing the ladder of success to notice two things: His boss Irene Grace (Jennifer O'Neill) is conspiring with Matt's rival Jay Williams (Ben Cross) to take over the firm, and Nicole Landon (Kathleen Kinmont), the bright Gal Friday he just hired, is a psychopath who recently got away with killing her previous boss. Although she's phobic about sexual harassment, Nicole isn't above seducing those who strike her fancy, quickly adding Matt to her list of conquests. Content in the role of mistress, she doesn't insist that he leave his pregnant wife Susan (Talisa Soto). Not only does Nicole inspire Matt to greater creativity, she also lets him take credit for her ideas. She even drowns meddlesome Jay in his bachelor pool. However, once Matt makes it clear that he prefers being with Susan, Nicole swiftly frames him for Jay's death and implicates him in Irene's company coup. Not only does it look like she'll get away with murder again, she's yet to deal with Susan. Because these infidelity thrillers typically uphold the sanctity of marriage, does anyone really expect an unhappy ending for Matt and Susan? Not surprisingly, the film's crass preoccupation with silicone cleavage is at the expense of drama and suspense. In particular, the screenplay would've benefited from exploring Nicole's bad habit of hiding her own talents behind less inspired males. As it is, all this FATAL ATTRACTION rip-off adds to the extramarital blues formula is the following warning: Married execs should only hire unattractive spinsters for their assistants.
