A dull supernatural tale set in a remote woodland area in the 1930s, THE CHILD concerns a sweet little girl, Cole, who discovers that she possesses demonic powers after her daddy pays the homicidal gardener to bump off her mother. In retaliation, Cole commands the bodies of the dead to

rise in a nearby cemetery. New governess Barnett begins to think things are strange when most of the cast gets chewed up by things that go bump in the night. The spunky nursemaid realizes that she's next and barricades herself in the pumphouse with an axe, waiting for the newly risen dead to find

her. This low-budget effort has its champions, mainly because of some nice subjective camerawork, but it simply takes too long to kick into gear.
