Technically inept drama inspired by Al Jolson's THE JAZZ SINGER (1927) and starring Oysher as a runaway child who grows up to be a cafe singer by day and a cantor in the local synagogue by night. When he learns that his now elderly parents are celebrating their golden anniversary back in

the old country, the young cantor goes back to his homeland in Europe to participate in the festivities. Once there, he reunites with his childhood sweetheart, now a beautiful woman, and falls in love. Complications arise when his benefactor in the States, a matronly entertainer, follows him to

Europe and attempts to win him back. The production values are terrible (the phony beards on some of the actors make them look like the Smith Brothers of cough drop fame) and the songs have no zing. Oysher is a decent singer, but a bad actor. (In Yiddish; English subtitles.)
