This well-made, segmented film details how the Greeks have dealt with invasions of their country over the years. The first segment is a melancholy love story starring Triandafylidou and Georgis as a young couple betrothed in the traditional manner during the 1957 occupation of Greece by

the British. Before their marriage can be consummated, Georgis, a freedom fighter, is forced to flee and is never seen again. The second segment is an amusing story set during the Italian occupation of Greece in 1943. The Greeks never take the Italian forces seriously and find much pleasure in

making fools of the occupational forces. The major frustration of the spit-and-polish Italian commander is the town clock that doesn't work. The final segment concerns a Nazi officer who is stationed in the home of rich Greek Papagianopoulous during the German occupation of 1944. The two are wary

of each other at first, but soon they begin to communicate through nonverbal means. Just as the enemies have established a rapport, German soldiers are seen torturing a Greek citizen and the two realize that there is no possibility of friendship under these circumstances. Unable to face the Greek,

the German packs his bags and leaves.
