Nightmarish horror, German style, this film features Christopher Lee as the gleefully sadistic Count Regula, who has been rejuvenated by his loyal servant, Anatole (Carl Lange), 40 years after being decapitated and dismembered for murdering 12 virgins in the hope that their blood would

give him eternal life. Unfortunately, Regula was one shy of the required 13 virgins, so now he's back to finish the job, having summoned a castle full of guests to torment, including Baroness von Brandt (Karin Dor, wife of director Harold Reinl) and her lawyer, Roger (ex-Tarzan Lex Barker). Very

loosely based on Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum," BLOOD DEMON has little going for it in terms of plot, but makes up for it with some fascinating visuals, including an eerie forest of the dead. Good makeup job on Lee. On videocassette as THE TORTURE CHAMBER OF DR. SADISM.
