Krakatit, a new energy source the size of a golf ball, is stolen from its creator by a young ambitious scientist. An American industry is also chasing after the krakatit for its own purposes. The younger scientist eventually sets off a neutron bomb-type explosion that kills the

population but leaves architecture intact. The older scientist starts his life over in a small village where the people still lead a traditional existence. This is an inferior remake of KRAKATIT, a 1948 film with the same story line by the same director. The dreamy, lyrical passages of the first

film have been replaced here, unfortunately, with an overlong story that frequently resorts to spy-movie aesthetics.
