Joe Robbins (Bruce Boxleitner) under his wing and, when they meet in the ultimate match, informs his pupil that "I taught you everything you know, kid. But I didn't teach you everything I know." Many real pool champs, including Steve Mizerak and Irving Crane, appear; Omar Sharif is the bad guy

with a behemoth, frightening henchman (Jack O'Halloran); and Ronee Blakely improves on her NASHVILLE work. The film's major problem is that Nick appears to have just a little too much class to be a frazzled pool hustler. A few cheap misogynist jokes may offend some viewers.
