Yet another version of the Pancho Lopez story, this one with Beery as the lovable Mexican bandit. It's a real contest between Beery and Barrymore (who plays Reagan's wheelchair-ridden grandfather) to see who can growl, bluster, and generally chew up the scenery more. Plot concerns the

troubles of Reagan and Barrymore, who are about to lose the ranch because they can't pay the mortgage. Into their lives ride Beery and his bandits. Reagan had saved the outlaw's life earlier and now the grateful thief pays back the favor by taking care of the mortgage and reuniting Ronnie with his

sweetheart. Not a great film by any stretch of the imagination, but it's fun to watch Beery and Barrymore stealing scenes from the future President.
