Another slam at the capitalist system from the Eastern European cinema, this one is better than most. Gabor Kanz is a butcher's assistant whose sexual appetite is used as a metaphor for capitalist acquisition. The helper promptly beds his boss's overweight, materialistic wife and his

young, hot-to-trot daughter. The butcher, of course, is above all the nonsense. He is a hardworking, frugal man who shuns the results of his wife's get-rich-quick schemes. The end of the film is somewhat anticlimactic with the noble butcher leaving his business and family to pursue more pure

goals. Decent performances by the principal players make this glorification of socialism a little easier to take.
