Handsome gambler Bixby finds himself stuck with three orphaned children in the Old West. Agreeing to a "friendly" marriage with tough female coach driver Clark, the couple escorts the children to their dead father's abandoned gold mine where, as luck would have it, they find a huge lump of

the valuable stuff. Into the pleasant picture come two outlaw gangs, one consisting of the bumbling Conway and Knotts, and the other headed by the vicious Pickens. A rather pleasant period comedy that made quite a sum of money for the studio in its economically weak post-Walt period. A delightful

cast of character actors helps the childish story, with Conway and Knotts beginning what would become a somewhat famous, but very simple-minded, film comedy duo. An inept sequel followed in 1979.
