While waiting to hear from Harvard about a teaching post, high-school English teacher Ed Branish (Edward Herrmann) is given the chore of coaching the school wrestling team, which has been anything but successful for a long time. First Ed has to learn something about the sport

(accomplished through some crash reading), then he has to find someone to wrestle at 185 pounds. Adonis Nick Kilvitus (Lorenzo Lamas) seems to fit the bill, but he couldn't be less interested in getting down on all fours on a sweaty mat. Ed proves persuasive, however, and Nick rises to the

challenge. Lighthearted and unassuming, TAKE DOWN offers a nicely modulated performance from Herrmann and a team full of interesting characters.
