Yoshimitsa (Hiroshi Fujioka) is a samurai warrior in 1552 Japan searching for his wife who has been kidnaped by enemies. Wounded, he falls into an icy crevasse and is frozen. He's found 400 years later by a party of skiers, and the body is shipped to Los Angeles for study. To everyone's

surprise--particularly Yoshimitsa's--the samurai awakens. He believes himself still to be in Japan, and the culture shock of 1980s LA is astounding, to say the least. Undaunted, Yoshimitsa takes his sword in hand and continues his search. He escapes from the hospital, and the chase begins. Nasty

Dr. Richards (John Calvin) wants the man for his own purposes, but nice girl Chris Welles (Janet Julian) wants to help him. It's predictable but imaginative enough at moments to be a fairly amusing diversion. The plot is similar to ICEMAN (1984); but rather than treating the subject as serious

material, this movie has some fun with the idea. It's not quite as satirical as it could have been, but Fujioka's performance makes the film much better than might be expected.
