A tired story, helped by some snappy one-liners. Cummings is an orphan raised by her aunt and uncle. Knowing how phony the wealthy can be, she tells a rich prospective beau that she would rather marry a man of lesser means. He tries to force himself on her, but she turns him down and a

bum (Sinclair) comes out of the weeds after hearing the whole affair. The marriage is set to take place despite the girl's opposition. However, when she arrives for the ceremony, the dissipated would-be groom gives her the choice of marrying him or Sinclair, whom he has brought along with him. She

chooses Sinclair and it is revealed that he is, in fact, an English lord. More trouble awaits the new couple, but they prevail at the end of this film set in Canada.
