Grable and Payne are a pair of Broadway performers and lovers who prove the truth of the old saying that those who love together also fight together. The biggest problem seems to be that Payne can't keep his mind off other women, which piques Grable to no end. To get even, she hooks up

with Romero as though she intends to marry him. Payne retaliates by romancing his Brazilian secretary, Miranda. Though the premise is slight, music, dance, comedy, and even some drama are combined in a very astute manner. Much of the action is played out against the backdrop of Lake Louise,

Alberta, and Palmer's Technicolor cinematography fills the screen with the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. The story sets up Grable and Romero as dancing partners, and they do a little hoofing to the accompaniment of Harry James and His Music Makers. This was the first film to give Grable top

billing, and it's still easy to see why she became a wartime favorite, even if the irrepressible Miranda does steal the film.
