This was the first oater in which Rogers was teamed with his happy-go-lucky sidekick, Gabby Hayes. He and Rogers make claim to partial ownership of a ranch, after bidding farewell to the Confederate army. The other half of the ranch is owned by a former colonel in the Union army, whom the

pair have had a run-in with before. This same colonel is made the commanding officer of a cavalry unit sent in to enforce the law in the area, which has been victimized by a high amount of bloodshed. The person responsible for the crime wave is the officer directly under the colonel. Rogers

identifies the culprit and rallies the rest of the ranchers to make the valley safe. Well paced, with Rogers inserting four songs in between the action.
