"Something weird" is right--there's barely a drop of blood in the entire movie! This is a strange and fairly obscure Herschell Gordon Lewis effort that combines witchcraft and ESP with a touch of espionage. McCabe is an electrical engineer whose face is disfigured in a high-tension wire

accident. As a result of the accident, he discovers that he has acquired ESP and telekinetic powers, enabling him to see into the future and move objects. Depressed about his scarred face, he pays a visit to Lee, a witch who agrees to fix his face if he will be her lover. The witch appears

beautiful to the rest of the world, but because of his powers, McCabe is able to see her as she really is, horribly ugly. Together they travel around the country, and Mitchell becomes a famous psychic. Called to a small town to help solve a murder case, McCabe is, unbeknownst to him, observed by

Brooker, an expert in psychic phenomena who has been employed by the government to determine if McCabe's powers are real. Brooker falls in love with Lee, which causes problems for McCabe. Shot in Chicago, this is one of Lewis' most conventional--and consequently one of his dullest--films. It was

produced and written by James F. Hurley, a college professor, karate buff, and a former associate of psychic Peter Hurkos. Hurley attempts to combine all his obsessions into a script that alternates between a tale of the supernatural, an action film (it opens with a lengthy karate lesson), and a

tribute to the Playboy lifestyle. Unfortunately, it fails on all counts, because Lewis really isn't much of a director and the acting is atrocious. Oddly enough, the videotape release of this film is actually letterboxed.
