A reprehensible ripoff, this third in the "Smokey and the Bandit" series doesn't even boast the dubious talents of Burt Reynolds or director Hal Needham. Reynolds, who appears only in a cameo, must have finally realized the effect these moronic car-chase movies had on his career and bowed out of this one. Ask FlickChick: Movies affected by the writer's strike, dubbed performances, what's that movie and more movie questions answered!I'm a big fan of Brian De Palma's The Phantom of the Paradise. Recently, I've been hearing rumblings that there was talk of a remake. Any truth to these rumors? I can't really imagine a remake of this movie being successful, because part of the fun was how absolutely '70s it was. The title is listed on the website of Pressman Films , at the bottom of a list of in-development projects. That said, Pressman Films is a legitimate company, Edward R.
