Leading lady Gaynor stars opposite the up-and-coming Taylor in this offbeat love story. She is a dreamy New England girl and he is a wealthy young doctor. They meet when Taylor stops Gaynor for directions on his way to a local college football game. He asks if she would like to go with

him to the game, a night of drunken festivities follows, and the two wake up married to each other the next morning. Although Taylor is already engaged to the snooty Barnes and Gaynor has her own hometown honey in Stewart, they give married life a try. When Gaynor realizes that Barnes won't let

Taylor out of her clutches, however, she makes her way back to the small town. Taylor eventually has second thoughts about spending his life with Barnes, deciding that Gaynor is his true love. This picture was given a highly polished look by MGM but little shines beyond that polish, including the

standard performances. Only Stewart adds a bit of integrity as the hometown bumpkin. Director Wellman was out of his element with this type of romance, but he managed to put the laughs in the right places and make the stars look as pleasing as possible. The title song became quite popular after

the film's release.
