Sam J. Jones stars as LA cop Sam Kettle, seeking revenge for the deaths of his partners who were killed during a stakeout ambushed by Kendrick, an ex-CIA agent (Gustav Vintas). Kettle steps into action when Kendrick strikes again, this time by kidnaping a research scientist (Bill Erwin)

who holds half the formula for a deadly new biological weapon. Kendrick's partners in crime are the Iga, a clan of ax-wielding Samurai who have become professional assassins. Kettle is helped by Jun Kim (Jun Chong), a former South Korean Green Beret turned artist who is determined to avenge the

death of his brother (hacked to pieces when the scientist was taken hostage) and to rescue his six-year-old niece (abducted in the same incident). Made by a pair of transplanted South Korean filmmakers and released directly to video, this action picture is surprisingly entertaining. Jun Chong and

Phillip Rhee produced, costarred, and handled the fight sequences, which are well done and exciting. Rhee also provides comic relief, and Gustav Vintas makes a slimy villain. Director Lee Doo-yong paces the action sequences nicely, aided by an excellent score. The picture's only real drawback is

its production values, including the poorly recorded dialog.
