The seventh of the "Billy the Kid" westerns starring serial favorite Crabbe who took over the role from Bob Steele in the previous year after scoring in his first film for PRC, JUNGLE MAN (1941). Crabbe, who became PRC's greatest box office draw, continued in the western series for some

time while simultaneously appearing in yet another jungle epic, JUNGLE SIREN (1942) which costarred ecdysiast/actress Ann Corio. Crabbe played many dual roles. In this one, he is two bandit brothers. One brother, Billy, is mistaken for a straight-shooter by the mayor of the title town and is

appointed sheriff. He rises to the challenge of the job and attempts to clean up the town which, unbeknownst to him, is menaced by his casino-owner brother who is in hiding, wanted for murder. The bad brother traps the good one, exchanges clothes with him, and poses as the legitimate sheriff, a

perfect disguise for the furtherance of his nefarious deeds. With the assistance of sidekicks St. John and O'Brien, the good brother recovers and triumphs over the bad. However, in the process, their relationship is exposed, so he must turn in his badge and move on.
