Basically just a reworking of the old Jekyll-and-Hyde theme, SHE DEVIL puts a female through ghastly changes. Kelly is attempting to find a universal cure for disease, and Blanchard, who has tuberculosis, agrees to be a guinea pig for his experiments. The injections he gives her make her

quite fit, but with the rather horrible side effect that she becomes a dangerous and vicious witch, immune to any form of injury. She first kills Baker, the wife of Archer, whom Blanchard marries and then does away with in a car crash. This leaves her with millions, but Kelly and Dekker decide

that enough is enough, and transform the woman back to her sickly self. Little new is offered in this poor effort by director Neumann (best known for his success with THE FLY), which fails to maintain suspense. Karl Struss, who worked on the Fredric March version of DR. JEKYL AND MR. HYDE, handled

the rather unimaginative effects on this film. The only visual indication of Blanchard's change in personality is that her hair color changes--and anybody can perform the same magic with dye.
