SEXTETTE was the final film for the original sex kitten, Mae West, on whose play it is based. She made a big mistake by coming out of retirement to do this turkey. Playing fading Hollywood star Marlo Manners, she prepares to consummate her recent marriage to Sir Michael Barrington (Timothy

Dalton), a young Englishman, but the newlyweds are repeatedly interrupted. Among the distractions are a gymnastics team, Rona Barrett, reporters, Marlo's fourth and fifth husbands (Ringo Starr and George Hamilton, respectively), and delegates to an international summit. What's more, the X-rated

memoirs she's dictated onto tape have apparently been stolen. As difficult as it may be to believe, West goes way over the top here, as camp becomes corn. Hollywood vets Tony Curtis and Walter Pidgeon and rockers Keith Moon and Alice Cooper are on hand, while George Raft and Regis Philbin appear

as themselves. All to no avail.
