Imagine GASLIGHT (1940) with thong underwear: This thriller rehashes a

venerable suspense situation without none of the psychological insight, glamour or suspense viewers get from classic movies. It's a good thing hunky police detective James Brody (Randy Spears) takes a personal interest in beautiful-but-unloved Crystal Strickland (Shayla Laveaux). The fabulously rich Crystal is married to Tom (James Bonn), who's much more interested in the inherited property that she stubbornly refuses to sell. After Tom tries to kill Crystal, she puts her trust in friends who don't have her best interests in mind. The fugitive Tom's car runs off Highway 101, so it appears that Crystal's troubles are over. Encouraged by her dear pal and attorney, Amy Martin (Julia Parton), the widowed Crystal begins grief therapy with Dr. Rachel Turner (Mandy Fisher). But before long, Crystal is telling her tom that she keeps seeing Tom — maybe he isn't dead after all. Crystal is right — he's not. But he's in cahoots with Dr. Turner and plans to drive Crystal mad so he can assume control of her properties. Dr. Turner, Tom and a surprising accomplice dole out ever-more potent drugs and wait for Crystal to crack up. But the evil trio — who are fond of the occasional menage a trois — weren't counting on Detective Brody, who has a crush on the tortured Crystal. Because Tom will kill to solidify his real estate deal, Brody must work fast to head off the conspirators' plan to rob Crystal of her fortune and sanity. Breasts heave and hips undulate, but the film's story just lies there, supine and flaccid.

Softcore porn fans probably won't mind, but this boudoir thriller is far from

the genre's finest hour.
