ruthless hunters. Photography of the animal-loving epic is sharp and to the point. Hurst is the determined bad guy who is always pursuing the pair. Happily, the two can live in peace at the film's end because the government finally posts a "No Hunting" sign at the site of their habitat. Unusual

for its time, SEQUOIA posed a problem to the MGM publicity people when it came time to promote it. They tried to romance the tame subject matter in an attempt to make it attractive to a wider audience. Nevertheless, the film found receptive viewers and charmed the critics as well.
