Sean Connery returns to action after a 12-year absence from his role as 007. The title is based on his comment that he would never do a James Bond film again following DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. Basically a remake of THUNDERBALL, the film opens with an aging Bond trying to get back in shape at

a special clinic. When SPECTRE psycho Largo (Brandauer) hijacks a couple of American cruise missiles, Bond is assigned the case. Fatima Blush (Carrera), a gorgeous but deadly SPECTRE agent, does her best bring an end to Bond's illustrious career, but, surviving the requisite high-speed chase, he

eventually catches up with Largo and his beautiful companion Domino (Basinger) on the villain's yacht. Connery delivers his usual charming performance, and Brandauer (MEPHISTO, OUT OF AFRICA) makes a great Bond villain. Gone is the excessive gadgetry that mars Bond films, and, as a result, the

characters are more prominent and colorful. This was director Irvin Kershner's first film following the huge success of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Lani Hall croons the title song, written by Alan and Marilyn Bergman.
