Paige, thinking that her husband (DeFore) is cheating on her, decides to skip her ocean cruise and stay home to spy on him. DeFore, thinking that his wife is cheating on him, wonders why she is taking a cruise without him and hires a private eye to go along. Day is sent by Paige to take

her place on the cruise and, naturally, is mistaken by the detective as Paige. What follows is the obligatory romance between the pair. A great premise which doesn't quite deliver what it promises but it's fun anyway. This was the film debut for Miss Day, who got the part through a couple of

strokes of luck. The one-time singer in Les Brown's band, Doris Von Kappelhoff (as she was then known), was performing at a Hollywood party where composer Jule Styne heard her rendition of "Embraceable You." Judy Garland was intended to take the role in Curtiz's new picture, but was replaced by a

soon-to-be pregnant Betty Hutton. A worried Curtiz then took a look at and listen to Doris, upon Styne's request. She was on her way to a busy career in pictures. Songs include: "It's Magic," "It's You or No One," "The Tourist Trade," "Put 'Em in a Box, Tie 'Em with a Ribbon, and Throw 'Em in the

Deep Blue Sea," "Two Lovers Met in the Night," "Run, Run, Run," "I'm in Love" (Sammy Cahn, Jule Styne), "Cuban Rhapsody" (Ray Heindorf, Oscar Levant).
