Whoever decided to borrow the plot of DIABOLIQUE (1955) for this erotic thriller should have paid attention to the story they were stealing; the result of their pilfering is an incomprehensible turkey.
Rebecca Hensley (Amy Rochelle) is the owner of the world's largest lingerie company. Her husband Jonathan (Michael Baci) runs the company and brazenly beds the models used in their catalogue. He is also having an affair with Gwen Parker (Lauren Hays), the catalogue's fashion editor. Jonathan is
drugged by Gwen and Rebecca, who have hatched a plan to kill him. They put him in his car and drive it over a cliff. The car--but not Jonathan's body--is found by the police. Suspicious of the situation, Det. Mathews (Brenda Stone) decides to investigate further. Rebecca is attacked in her house
by Max (Christopher Bennett). When she disarms him, he tells her that he was hired by Jonathan to kill her. She makes love to him, then locks him in the wine cellar.
Rebecca is confused by clues that seem to indicate that Jonathan is still alive. She and Gwen are attacked by Max, whom Gwen has let out of the cellar. Max is knocked unconscious by Jonathan, who has been plotting with Gwen to kill Rebecca so that he can inherit her money. Now he plans to kill
them both and blame it on Max. After a struggle in the pool, the two women are saved by Det. Mathews, who explains that she was once a fashion model who had been rejected by Jonathan.
There isn't much point in examining too closely the plot of what is, after all, nothing more than a commercial for breast enhancements. Still, the creators of REBECCA'S SECRET clearly let their minimal ambitions get the better of them. Most of the elements of DIABOLIQUE (the Sharon Stone remake,
not the Henri-Georges Clouzet original) are here, but they just don't make any sense. The acting is terrible, production values are minimal (the entire film seems to have been shot on the grounds of one house), and the direction is at best competent (and not always that). (Violence, extensivenudity, sexual situations, adult situations, substance abuse, profanity.)
