Well written, smartly directed and sensitively performed, Barry Levinson's best film since Diner depicts the one-sided relationship between two brothers, self-centered Los Angeles hustler Charlie (Tom Cruise) and the older Raymond (Dustin Hoffman), an autistic idiot savant who can remember facts and figures in astounding detail.
