Fields stars as a mild-mannered seamstress mistaken for a local rich woman who's backing an important show. Fields sees her chance to get ahead in the world and plays along. She wins the handsome actor of the show and, of course, lives happily ever after. This is minor fluff without much

new or original, but Fields makes the film work. Fields experienced her peak in popularity, as comedienne and singer, during the early 1930s, and was one of the highest-paid actresses in Britain during that decade. She collaborated in QUEEN OF HEARTS with second husband Monty Banks, who served as

director and played a small role. She joined Banks in America in 1940, after which she made two successful films, HOLY MATRIMONY and MOLLY AND ME. She played a character part in PARIS UNDERGROUND before retiring from the screen.
