Sullivan is an engineer who invents a generator resembling a ferris wheel. He moves to Spain, where the device is to be constructed. While looking for a new home for his wife and daughter, he meets Hyer. She's about to set her house ablaze for insurance money, but he convinces her not to.

They fall into an affair, but Sullivan decides to end it before it destroys him. Jealous, Hyer sets his home on fire, killing his wife and daughter and leaving her ex-lover horribly disfigured. He vows revenge and later sets fire to Hyer's family home. Her mother, brother, and sister-in-law are

killed, and Hyer goes into seclusion. Meanwhile, Sullivan eludes capture and ends up with a carnival, where he falls in love with Miranda, one of the carnies he works with. Then, once more, he finds Hyer and sets her house on fire. This time she is killed, and the crazed man steals her baby,

intending to throw the infant off the top of the carnival ferris wheel. The police and Miranda convince him not to, however, and Sullivan takes a suicidal plunge after placing the baby carefully on the ferris wheel seat. This film could have been really fine, but it's riddled with problems. Too

much time is spent on the affair, and the script is filled with unnatural dialog. Rather than create drama, the dialog inspires laughter. On the other hand, Sullivan's makeup job is terrific. His face is horrible, charred with great effect. The ending, which reveals that he wore a mask over this

face, is somewhat predictable but nicely handled.
