Even flatter than the average carbon copy, PREHYSTERIA! 2 listlessly encores the friendly pygmy dinosaurs that made the original PREHYSTERIA quite popular on the 1993 family direct-to-videotape market. None of the human actors repeat their roles.

After wandering from their farm pen, an inquisitive T. Rex, brachiosaur, ceratops, pterodactyl and stegosaur get carted off in a raisin shipment and dumped at the mansion of Poor Little Rich Boy Brandon Wellington (Kevin Connors). Snobbish, lonely Brandon shares the secret of his new pet

monsters with neighborhood tomboy Naomi (Jennifer Harte). Meanwhile chilly governess Mrs. Winters (Bettye Ackerman, as the sort of stereotype who used to torment Shirley Temple) turns out to be allergic to reptiles--a medical impossibility, by the way--and calls crazed commie-hating paramilitary

exterminators after the unseen pests.

The scaly critters inspire Brandon to stand up against Mrs. Winters, proclaim his friendship with working-class Naomi, and bring him closer to his divorced, workaholic dad; but for the most part the beasties just stand around and wiggle mechanically. Clunky dinosaur puppetry doesn't even

approach the low-budget charm of the earlier film, and the only time Elvis the T. rex and company are at all believable is when they pretend to be inanimate rubber dolls to deceive Mrs. Winters' prying eyes. Kid viewers who find this stuff amusing should probably be checked for heartbeats and

brain activity themselves. (Comic violence.)
