Interesting conception for a farce has Fuller coming home from the war, only to have to put up with an obtrusive guest who won't leave. The man has the idea that since he seemingly saved Fuller's life during the war, Fuller owes him. After several attempts to get the man to leave,

including a staged scene where Fuller pretends to save his putative savior's life to repay the debt, the man finally leaves when another war buddy shows up and enlightens them to the fact that this intruder did not save Fuller's life. The second war buddy tosses the first out, then moves in, under

the pretension that he was really the hero. Unfortunately, the idea is carried on much too long, stretching what little material there is. This was the first screen appearance of Lawford, who was 8 years old at the time, playing the son of Fuller. The camera lingers long and lovingly on Lawford's

much-bathed backside; the creative staff apparently considered bare buttocks to be screamingly funny. An embarrassment, no doubt, to the suave, aristocratic-seeming member of Frank Sinatra's "Rat Pack," but after all, Sinatra had the shame of THE KISSING BANDIT (1948) to bear.
