Shot over a number of years on a small western set in New Jersey, this interesting but unsuccessful independent film opens with a sepiatinted sequence showing the murder of Joseph, a high-spirited pioneer woman. The picture switches to color and flashes back to the events leading up to

that murder. After being involved in a range war, Joseph and a group of widowed women find themselves in Kansas. The husbands of Nelson and Traverse were shot during the war by Geiger and his partner. When the women again run afoul of the murderous pair, Joseph kills Geiger's partner and Geiger

swears revenge. Eventually, Geiger catches up with Joseph, and the film comes full circle. Good performances nearly, but not quite, save the contrived script.
