Baxter returns in the Cisco Kid-type role that won him an Oscar for IN OLD ARIZONA (1929), this time chasing after a horse in Buenos Aires which has been stolen from him. While down there, he also chases after Gallian, a singer who is managed by the man suspected of nabbing the horse. By the finale he gets both the horse and the girl. Annoyingly disparate, obviously fake Hispanic accents are used throughout the film; though it has some funny moments, mostly centering about Jiminez, who plays Baxter's mother. Making an early appearance is Rita Hayworth, here billed as Rita Cansino, which was short for Margarita Cansino. The name Hayworth came from her mother's maiden name, Haworth, which was amended with the "y" by producer Harry Cohn. She plays a dance hall girl/waitress who dances to a tune called "Zamba" (Arthur Wynter-Smith). Other songs include: "The Gaucho" (Buddy De Sylva, Walter Samuels), "Querida Mia" (Paul Francis Webster, Lew Pollack), "Love Song of the Pampas," "Veredita," and "Je t'Adore" (Miguel de Zarraga, Cyril J. Mockridge).
