A fast-moving Poverty Row potboiler with Beery as an unpalatable seaman who is hired to work on Moran's Singapore-bound cargo ship. Accompanied by Love, Beery plots to take control of the ship, poisoning Moran in the process. When the second mate hears of their plot, he promptly falls

victim to the dark sea. The captain's daughter, Seegar, duped by Beery's mask of kindness, fails to recognize that Beery and Love are anything but friendly. While docked in Singapore, Beery arranges to have a supposedly valuable cargo loaded on board the ship. His plan is to then sink the ship and

collect on the heavily insured cargo. Boarding the ship in Singapore are Walsh, a replacement for the drowned second mate, and Burgess, Beery's sensuous girl friend. Walsh soon learns of the ship's destiny and attempts to overpower Beery. Instead, he gets locked in an isolated cabin. The

responsibility of saving the ship and crew is left up to Burgess, who convinces Seegar that Beery is nothing but a low-life murderer. Burgess manages to lock up Beery before he can carry out his plan, paving the way for Walsh and Seegar's escape. As they drift in their lifeboat, Beery and his ship

meet an explosive finale. Another film imitative of THE SEA WOLF, but this time with some entertaining delights, first in the teaming of those two screen villains Beery and Love, and then in the revealing costumes worn by Beery's girl friend, Burgess--costumes that would not be allowed two years

later when the Production Code went into effect.
