Plummer is a predictably noble, manly Oedipus; Welles is subdued but awfully silly-looking as Tiresias; then-unknown Sutherland does his best as the chorus, that feature of Greek tragedy that modern directors never know what to do with. Filmed on location amid portentous-looking ruins.
