A hot shot young tenor (Kiepura) comes to Venice for a production of "Aida." Bored between rehearsals, he amuses himself by drawing cartoons. Marson is a young girl who sneaks into the opera house and captures the roving eye of Kiepura. He asks her to tea but she declines. It seems she has

been sent by her pianist fiance to try to obtain a position for him in the opera's orchestra. Eventually she consents to tea and tells Kiepura the story, describing her fiance as her "brother." He discovers the deception but gives a card that will get the man the job. Marson is filled with guilt

and angrily tears up the card. She breaks off the engagement and consents to marry her parents' choice, a wealthy society man. But right before the wedding, she changes her mind and marries Kiepura instead. Charming in parts, this is a nicely done musical with some good detailed direction.
