Carey is a veteran policeman in Hell's Kitchen. His son (Cabot) turned to crime but is now being released from prison. Carey tries to help the young man make a new start, but Cabot is soon back with his old cronies. He rejoins the mob and kills a police officer. Having no choice, Carey

kills his son in a shootout. Though a formal picture through and through, the direction manages to inject some life into the stock situations. Carey is able to escape his stereotype as well, turning in a fairly good performance. However, the skimpy plot and weak dialog ultimately catch up with the

film. The majority of the cast, all programmer veterans, just seem to be going through the motions and hoping for a big break. Still, be on the lookout for Glenn Ford in an early role.
