Kobayashi is a semi-wealthy hobo who has saved his money over the years. He keeps it taped to his side wherever he goes. He is arrested after trying to get out of paying a restaurant bill and meets Takamine, a lady hobo who's decided to tell people she's an A-Bomb victim, thereby grabbing

some fast sympathy--and cash. They take off together, but one morning Kobayashi awakens to discover that Takamine has stolen his money. He goes looking for her and meets two abandoned kids (Miki and Dan). He takes them to his home and finds a letter from Takamine. She has invested his money and

made a nice profit, so why not get married? This is a cute little comedy with some good-natured laughs. The principals are funny and realistic, never needing to over-emote. Some excellent comedy sequences, as well as a semi-travelog of the Japanese countryside make this one a real treat. (In

Japanese; English subtitles.)
