Television star Robert Jordan (Clifton Webb) wants to attract more juvenile viewers to his show, so, to get into the proper spirit, he becomes involved with the Boy Scouts. Since Jordan is the type of man who values order and propriety above all else, trying to handle a troop of unruly

scouts is courting disaster and leads to numerous complications. While struggling to cope with his charges, Jordan and his wife (Frances Dee) find they become the focus of attention of little Mike (George "Foghorn" Winslow), who is too young to be a Boy Scout, but nevertheless always seems to

hanging around Jordan and his troop. Jordan camps and hikes his way through his unwanted assignment and, in the process, reveals a warm side which has been hidden most of his life. Webb made a career out of playing one part, that of the coolly efficient professional man with no time for emotions.

Nobody ever played the part better, and here his screen persona is put to good use as he struggles mightily to maintain his calm exterior while dealing with the unpredictable youths. The material features a good humorous touch which, though sentimental, is well paced and convincing.
