This was one of the few Jules Verne novels never adapted by American studios. The story is the simple tale of a nobleman, played by Jourdan, who sides with revolutionaries in a fictional 19th-century country. His daughter (Mary) is involved with the head of the country's army and has her

father arrested. However his underground friends help him escape and together they rise up to overthrow the evil government. The story and dialog are simplistic and cartoonish at best, but there's some well-done action sequences that carry the film along to its climax.
