This film provided an excuse to bring the famed radio personalities Burns and Allen to the screen, as well as Guy Lombardo. It was a sure-fire box-office combination. All that was needed was a story to go around it, which, unfortunately, MANY HAPPY RETURNS failed to provide. Here, Burns

is bribed by Allen's father to marry the girl and keep her as far away as possible. Allen has the habit of destroying everything she gets her hands on, so her father pays Burns $10 for every mile they drive. This premise is not enough to keep the movie going; the laughs, more often than not, are

predictable, and the whole thing drags. Surprisingly, the direction manages to keep some form of pace. Songs include: "Fare Thee Well," "I Don't Wanna Play," "Bogey Man" (Arthur Johnston, Sam Coslow), "The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven" (Carmen Lombardo, Cliff Friend).
