Chaplin and Fossey break from the men in their lives to find their own identities. Chaplin directs a video production unit for sociological research, while Fossey becomes a head garage mechanic, leaving little time for her husband and child. Through their work they find a lack of

communication with the people they deal with. Chaplin becomes disappointed with the people she interviews, and Fossey finds a growing gap between her and her husband which leaves him sad and unhappy. The title, a schoolhouse device French children use to attempt to recall conjugations in their

grammar classes, is obviously meant to convey the difficulty of communicating with others. A serious, sensitive study of male and female emotional relationships.
