Despite the fact that the stunning climax of this science-fiction film happens to be stock footage from the German film, GOLD, this is actually a fairly interesting film in its own right. Carlson stars as a young scientist whose experiments with a new radioactive isotope get so out of hand that he accidentally creates a monster isotope which consumes energy. The monster lab experiment doubles its size every 12 hours by converting the absorbed energy into matter and emitting deadly radiation that threatens the existence of a nearby town. Eventually Carlson is able to lure the monster to an experimental Canadian power station (stolen from GOLD) where it is given an energy overdose of 900,000,000 volts. Sounds silly, but it plays better than it reads.
