The original Madison Square Garden is the setting for this run-of-the-mill boxing picture replete with the usual gangsters and fixed fights. Doc Williams (William Collier, Sr.), the manager of boxer Eddie Burke (Jack Oakie) and wrestler Brassy Randall (Warren Hymer), becomes the matchmaker

for the venerable Gotham arena when his charges quit him, realizing it's the only way to get him to accept his dream job. In no time, Eddie falls victim to fight-fixing crooks who use the contests as a cover for their bootlegging activities, but in the film's wild finale the heavies get theirs

from Garden employees, portrayed by such former sports greats as one-time heavyweight champ Jack Johnson. Alert viewers will also note the presence of writers Damon Runyon, Paul Gallico, Westbrook Pegler, and Grantland Rice.
