Delightful little film finds Rogers as a small-town newspaperman who befriends Cromwell, a youth framed on bank robbery charges. Barbier is the bank manager who forecloses on Rogers in retaliation, but Rogers and Cromwell start their own small one-page sheet. When Barbier runs for mayor,

Rogers sets up former silent comedy star Summerville, the town bum, as the opposing candidate. An investigation proves Cromwell to be innocent and the banker's son the guilty party. The film ends happily with Cromwell cleared (as well as winning the heart of schoolteacher Hudson), Rogers back in

business, and Summerville off to the woodpile. A nice folksy picture, full of the wry humor and jokes for which Rogers was famous. The ensemble is a good bunch, handling the comic turns with great ease. The film holds up well today and, as with most of Rogers work, seems surprisingly

contemporary.
