One of the more lighthearted treatments of the German occupation of France during WW II, with Deneuve as the young beauty who sets the whole plot going. Married to the lazy and oafish Noiret who doesn't even seem to be aware that there is a war going on, a bit of spark is added to her

life when Garcin comes knocking at her door. He's around to assist the French Resistance in setting up guidance for the American planes preparing to embark on the D-Day mission, but most of his time seems to be taken up pursuing Deneuve. The local German commander notices the charms of the young

woman and makes Noiret's chateau his new headquarters. It is not long before Garcin shows up again, dead drunk and sad at having to part from Deneuve, creating quite a ruckus as they hide his identity from the Germans. None of the performers seemed to take the project very seriously (a departure

for Deneuve, who at the time had been playing particularly intense dramatic roles), and the final product is all the better for it.
