The English translation of this title would read "the kind night," a rather cynical description of the escapades of three Roman thugs as they spend an entire day and night causing havoc. Lualdi, Brialy, and Terzieff are the three buddies who start out their day by stealing guns, which

they then try to sell, but they are temporarily distracted by three prostitutes. In fitting with the character of these three youths, they try to make off without paying for services rendered. But the prostitutes are one up on the thugs and wisely steal their money. It's back to the city for the

boys, where they continue their destructive games. Watching them take advantage of three homosexuals, then seeing their attempts to make it with some girls gets quite tiring after a while, making one wish to see some form of redeeming qualities in these youths, but none are offered. This film

makes a powerful statement about the wasted existence of modern youth. Pasolini was credited with the script, which showed the beginnings of his obsession with moral decay. This concern would have its ultimate expression in SALO.
