If this picture wasn't a Temple vehicle, it would have been forgotten a lot sooner. She certainly lays on the charm as a young girl upset with her father's lack of attention, his unfriendly lady friend, and a bossy nursemaid. A new nurse comes into the picture, however, and Temple takes a

liking to her--and so does her father. Louis B. Mayer had tried for some time to get Temple's name up on the MGM marquee, and he finally succeeded. KATHLEEN didn't do much box office though, despite the fact that the popular child star had been off the screen for a year. KATHLEEN thus ended up

being her only film for the studio. She still had all the charm she ever had, but the novel cuteness had started to wear off, making way for a budding (just barely) sexuality which blossomed in THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY SOXER. Only one tune is featured, "Around the Corner" (Roger Edens, Earl

Brent). Look for a small appearance by Yule, father of another MGM child star, Mickey Rooney.
